AL Systems CEO, Paul Lightfoot, Delivers Presentation on “ROI in Piece Picking” at North Texas WERC Conference
Discussion Compares Various Technologies that Speed Fulfillment of Goods
Rockaway, NJ – July 12, 2007 – AL Systems, Inc., the leading supplier of software solutions for improving distribution, announces that CEO, Paul Lightfoot, will speak at the 6th Annual Warehousing Resource Convention sponsored by the North Texas WERC (Warehousing Education and Research Council) Chapter on Thursday, July 26, 2007. Paul’s topic, “ROI in Piece Picking,” describes the concept of Reach Density, the difference between high and low reach densities, how it impacts labor required, and why it is key to selecting between Voice or Light-Directed technologies.
“Most warehousing operations are concerned with piece picking, which is characterized by lower volume, lower revenue, and higher labor costs, due to the need to open cartons, erect/pack/seal shipping cartons, and apply multiple carton labels which results in picking less volume compared to full case or pallet picks,” said Paul Lightfoot, CEO of AL Systems. “As more and more retailers sell online leading to smaller order quantities, there will always be a need for piece picking.”
Paul will discuss how Light and Voice Picking and Putting solutions work and detail several client case study scenarios. He concludes his presentation with the “Rules of Thumb for Selecting ‘Best’ Technology” based on the specific criteria for an operation, travel times and reach density, estimated investment costs, and forecasted improvements. Paul’s presentation will be given between the 9:00 am – 10:00 am time slot.
